Sense of Community Colleges

On Jan. 14, 2015, Tom Hanks wrote an Op/Ed piece in the New York Times support President Obama’s plan to make community colleges free. Hanks attended Chabot Community College in Hayward California back the 1970s because it was free. Considering his contributions to the world it was money was well spent, but it is not just Tom Hanks that did well. I know thousands of people who benefitted from attending California’s community colleges. They learned valuable lifelong skills and more than paid back their value in taxes. Giving people access to education is not an expense, it is an investment in the future.

Sep. 10, 2012 The New Yorker

On Sep. 10, 2012 The New Yorker’s James Surowiecki wrote “Clarifying Romney” about John Sides and Lynn Vivrek book “The Gamble”. Apparently most Americans will not vote for Mitt Romney because they blame the economic collapse of 2008 on George Bush versus Barack Obama because it happened during the Bush administration. Duh.

Aleksandar Hemon wrote “Beyond The Matrix” about Lana Wachowski and Alan Wachowski creating the movie “The Cloud Atlas”. It stars Tom Hanks in a variety of roles over several hundred years in the struggle for freedom.
