BBC reports that British actor Alan Rickman, best known for his roles in the movies Die Hard and Harry Potter, died from cancer at the age of 69. A few years ago I created a mashup of Rickman’s Die Hard character Hans Gruber blogging like Daring Fireball’s John Gruber. Even nerdier? Hans Gruber was also the name for a bad guy in the James Coburn movie In Like Flint. See below.

I was watching the first Die Hard movie the other day and realized the villain’s name was Hans Gruber. I thought, wouldn’t it be funny if he had a blog like John Gruber’s Daring Fireball? Maybe this is way too inside baseball, but I enjoyed it. Thank you John for your fine work all these years.
