A blizzard hit the east coast last week and reminded me of a ridiculous coat I once bought from a clearance rack for ten dollars. It was the biggest down parka I had ever seen. It looked like a sleeping bag with sleeves. The only drawback was the color, a bright purple. When I put it on I looked like a large singing purple dinosaur. I kept it in the back seat of my car in case I was stuck in a blizzard. I was ready for Barney weather.
I donated the coat when I moved west. One night I was watching the weather news from back east. They showed people struggling down a snow-filled street. One of them was wearing the unmistakeable big purple parka. It was nice to know that it was still being used.
Stay warm. Stay purple.
