Jun. 15, 2017 Google Housing

On Jun. 15, 2017 the San Jose Mercury News reporter Ethan Baron wrote “Google’s Moffett Field modular apartment plan hailed as possible housing crisis fix.” Google employees are not paid enough to find their own housing. They plan to buy 300 modular units (similar to house trailers) for about 30 million dollars to place on the former Navy base. That is roughly $100,000 per unit, compared to a million dollars for a standalone house or $3500 for a one bedroom apartment. No word on what happens to an employee who is laid off.
