Big 20: Word Processing

Thirty years ago most people still typed on a typewriter. It was a cumbersome and difficult to fix mistakes. Twenty years ago you probably used a PC running Microsoft Word. The software came with every computer, including Apple Macintoshes. It was okay for short documents, but for longer documents many writers recommended WordPerfect. I never used this MS-DOS command-line, function-key driven nightmare. People told me I had to learn it. I said it would go away. It did. Today, most people text message each other without using a separate word processor. Autocorrect spell checking is not perfect, but it better than using a bottle of White-Out correction fluid. I do not use Word as much as I used to, but I can still open up a document from thirty years ago.
