It is the last day of the month and many people I know are being forced to move because of the high cost of living in Silicon Valley. It is disruptive and in a bad way. Positions here open up because people are not paid enough. Someone outside the area sees an opening, takes the job and then quits when they cannot afford to live here. This revolving door creates the illusion of a growing economy. Teams are not built. Projects are delayed. Products are not released on time. In trying to save money, it is lost.
Improving transportation will take too long. Affordable housing happens when companies offer affordable jobs. If employers want them to stay, they will have to pay them more money or move their jobs to a place they can live.
