Nov. 24, 2014 The New Yorker

On Nov. 24, 2014, The New Yorker magazine had several interesting articles on technology.

James Surowiecki wrote “Valley Boys” about the overwhelming number of men in the tech industry and how difficult it is for women to get hired or rise to the top of high tech companies. “The result is a Catch-22: women need to act as ‘masculine’ to fit in, but get labelled as difficult and pushy if they do.” Diverse groups may be more difficult to manage but they are more innovative.

Lizzie Widdicombe wrote “The Programmer’s Price” about really talented programmers getting agents like in show business. Michael Solomon and Rishon Blumberg formed a talent company called 10x and tries to find programmers who are ten times better than ordinary programmers with the help of people like Altay Guvench. One good programmer can make or break your business. Spend the money.
