The July/August 2010 issue of the Smithsonian Magazine’s 40 Anniversary issue was titled “40 Things You Need To Know About The Next 40 Years.”

Abigail Tucker wrote “The Next King Of The Seas” about the rise of jellyfish in dying oceans. Tucker also wrote “Buying Time” about sea level rise destroying Carolina wildlife habitat.

T. A. Frail wrote “Farms Go To Town” about urban farming.

Joel Kotkin wrote “Ready Set Grow” about America having 400 million people by 2050. Most will be poor. Social mobility has already ended with the economic collapse in 2008.

Gretchen Vogel wrote “Organs Made To Order” about tailor made transplants.

Mark Strauss wrote “The Future Of History” about the inevitable declassification of secret documents.

Michael Rosenwald wrote “The Genius Of Small Things” about the rise and spread of nanotechnology.
